Dental Implants have never been so affordable.Dental Implants

Balance chewing forces, maintain bone levels and promote good health today with Dental Implants.

If you have missing teeth, that means that your remaining teeth have to work harder. They have more force (stress) on them because there is less chewing surface area. This is simple physics and leads to accelerated damage to your remaining teeth and many related problems. An analogy would be;  your sports team is missing a few players, but still has to compete against full strength teams!

So, replacing missing teeth with dental implants helps restore chewing balance, and reduce the damage to your existing teeth, which prolongs their life, and reduces the likelihood of you needing dentures.

Missing teeth can also cause other teeth to shift out of favourable position. This can affect speech, chewing efficiency and can cause food impaction. This can quickly lead to the loss of other teeth. Implants help avoid these issues.

Thirdly, when any tooth is lost, the bone in that area immediately begins to resorb (shrink) or dissolve (disuse atrophy). This can be a real problem since the teeth and surrounding bone formation is important for proper chewing, correct speech, and a youthful appearance. Without adequate bone, your facial appearance can change quite dramatically. Dental implants stop and/or reverse this process of bone loss.

This bone loss can also mean that the correct length or diameter of the implant may not be available.  Dr Max can correct damage that has already occurred with his knowledge of advanced bone replacement/growth techniques.

At Siana Dental, we provide many different types of dental implants:
  • Replace Missing Teeth
  • Bridge on 4 implants (commonly known as All-On-4)
  • Secure Loose Dentures

How can dental implants replace missing teeth and secure dentures?

Dental implants are titanium posts that act like the roots of your natural teeth. After you have Dental Implantshealed from the surgical placement, the surrounding bone bonds with the dental implant in a process called osseointegration.

Conventional, removable, complete and partial dentures replace missing teeth, but they do not preserve your bone. Only dental implants maintain bone. In fact, dentures actually accelerate the process of bone resorption by putting pressure on the underlying gums and bone every time you talk or eat.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are Dental Implants?

Dental Implants have become a choice treatment option for many patients who are missing one or more teeth. A dental implant is a replacement tooth “root” constructed of medical grade titanium. Dental implants are extremely stable, strong and natural looking. Patients with dental implants are able to eat, smile and laugh without fear or embarrassment due to their missing teeth.

  • Can you explain the dental implant procedure?

The dental implant is inserted into the jawbone in the area of a missing tooth, and a crown is constructed to act as the visible portion of the tooth. Dental implant treatment can be performed in the dental chair. The implant is placed into the jawbone and then covered with gum tissue, allowing it to heal and osseointegrate. Osseointegration is the process where the dental implant will bond to the surrounding bone in the next two to four months.

While the healing process takes place, the patient wears a temporary replacement tooth. Once the dental implant has bonded to the surrounding bone, Dr Max will uncover it and attach a post to the implant and then build a permanent crown for the tooth. The final result is a replacement tooth or teeth that feel and look natural. Some people also find the secure fit more comfortable than conventional substitutes.

  • Are dental implants suitable for everyone?

Dental implants are not an option for everyone. Because implants require surgery, patients must be in good health, have healthy gums, have adequate bone to support the implant and be committed to meticulous oral hygiene and regular dental visits.

  • Do dental implants feel the same as natural teeth?Dental Implants

Natural teeth are attached to the jaw bone by ligaments. This gives natural teeth a slight bounce or suspension feel. Implants, however, are directly attached to bone and have a more solid feel. Although they do function the same as natural teeth and they look natural, they may not feel the same. Eventually though you will not even notice the difference.

If you are considering implants, a thorough evaluation will help determine if you would be a good candidate.
